About Konstantin Starke

Konstantin Starke was born in Munich in 2004 and comes from a family of musicians. He is the son of clarinettist and University Professor Gerd Starke.

​

 

He learned to play several instruments and performed as a pianist, clarinettist and vocal soloist in various productions as part of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra's children's concerts under the direction of Heinrich Klug.

​

As a clarinettist and singer, he has won several prizes and special prizes at the ‘Jugend Musiziert’ competition in recent years, including seven 1st national prizes, as well as the special prize of the Sparkassen and two special prizes from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. Other awards include a 1st prize at the Lions Music Prize in Regensburg in 2024 and a 2nd prize at the Wetzlar Clarinet Competition in 2023. He has also received several scholarships, including the ‘Live Music Now’ scholarship (Yehudi Menuhin) in 2022 and the Deutschlandstipendium in 2024.

 

Konstantin has given solo performances at the Prinzregententheater, the Allerheiligen Hofkirche of the Munich Residenz, the Herkulessaal, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, the Isarphilharmonie and the Salzach-Halle in Laufen with the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker.

 

He completed his junior studies in clarinet at the University of Music and Theatre Munich in the class of Prof. Georg Arzberger and at the same time his junior studies in singing at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Barbara Bonney and Prof. Ildikó Raimondi.

​He is currently studying clarinet at the University of Music and Theatre Munich with Prof. Georg Arzberger and orchestral conducting at the Conservatorio di Vicenza under Maestro Giancarlo Andretta.

As a clarinettist in various orchestras, Konstantin has played under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, Vladimir Jurowski and Wayne Marshall.

 

Konstantin has also performed in various chamber music constellations. Regular chamber music partners include pianists Gitti Pirner and Margarita Höhenrieder.

Together with the pianist Giorgio Agnès, he forms the "Duo Starke-Agnès", which performs both in the combination of clarinet and piano and as a Kunstlied duo. (www.duo-starke-agnes.com)

 

Konstantin made his debut as a conductor in 2023 with Wagner's Siegfried Idyll. In 2024 he was invited by the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta to conduct a recording project. As a result of this collaboration, he will now appear more often in front of this orchestra in the coming seasons.
